AFSA to Improve Heavy Vehicle Safety - Powered By Kiri Align

Australian Fertiliser Services Association Receives $112K To Improve Heavy Vehicle Safety

$112,000 of Heavy Vehicle Safety Initiative funding has been allocated to Australian Fertiliser Services Association Limited (AFSA) to support Chain of Responsibility (CoR) and Safety Management Systems (SMS) training, to enhance stakeholder understanding and compliance under Heavy Vehicle National Law.

AFSA announced that the funding would serve to improve heavy vehicle safety within AFSA’s member and non-member organisations. This is paramount given the changes introduced to CoR in the recent past, and its alignment with workplace health and safety laws.

The funding will cover the following activities:

  • Deliver Safety Management Systems (SMS) training, that addresses Chain of Responsibility (CoR) obligations under Heavy Vehicle National Law
  • Provide a digital solution Kiri Align (delivered by Gibsons Technologies) and rollout pre-populated templates specific to AFSA members and other rural or agricultural-related transport companies, to manage safety and compliance processes and documentation

This project is funded through the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator’s (NHVR) 2020 Heavy Vehicle Safety Initiative, supported by the Federal Government.

NHVR CEO Sal Petroccitto said the funding was part of $5.5 million being distributed across the country.

“Heavy vehicle safetyis everyone’s responsibility and through local safety programs we can make our roads safer for all road users,” Mr Petroccitto said.

“Twenty-six recipients from across Australia will be supported to roll out programs targeting heavy vehicle safety. From road safety education, to truckie physical and mental health, to the investigation of braking technologies, tyres and pavement wear, these diverse projects will all make a big difference to safety.

“The NHVR is looking forward to working with the winning bids to ensure the projects deliver safety outcomes for all road users.”
